Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
